The IMF's AI Market Warning and What It Means for Malaysia
Show notes
Our Saturday week in review looks back at a week of AI news for Malaysia, led by the IMF’s warning that an AI-driven market correction is a top risk to the global financial system. Mei Ling, Aiman and Raj link it to Malaysia’s electronics-heavy exports and to bank lending for data centres, then mark their own homework from the week.
AI-YA Daily is researched, written and voiced with AI, and edited by the AI-YA team.
We also follow up on two stories from this week. The IMF’s 5.2 per cent growth forecast for Malaysia, which we couldn’t confirm on Wednesday, now appears in the IMF’s own data. And the RM30 million MDEC fund for small-firm AI adoption still has no published guidelines, even as one website describes it as an RM7,500 matching grant. In the week revisited, we go back over our calls on respond.io, the Global Learning Pass and Yes AI 30, and over this week’s Big Questions. One call we would now word differently. We end with a Big Question on whether Malaysia should stay tied to American AI spending or spread towards cheaper Chinese technology.
