Agoda's AI assistant can now plan and book your entire trip for you in Malaysia
Agoda has switched on its AI Assistant for users in Malaysia, offering end-to-end trip planning that goes beyond simple hotel search. The tool can take a loose request, like a weekend budget trip to a specific city, and generate an itinerary, suggest accommodation and flights, and complete the booking within the same conversational flow. It is aimed at travellers who want to skip juggling multiple tabs and comparison sites, letting the AI assistant handle the back-and-forth of narrowing down dates, budget and preferences. The rollout follows similar AI trip-planning pushes from other travel platforms as the industry races to make booking feel more like chatting with a travel agent than filling out search forms.
Meta's AI smart glasses are now on sale in Malaysia, here's which model to pick
Meta's AI-powered smart glasses, built with Ray-Ban and Oakley, are now officially available for purchase in Malaysia. The glasses let wearers take hands-free photos and video, get real-time AI voice assistance, translate speech, and stream audio, all without pulling out a phone. Different frame styles and lens options target different uses, from everyday wear to sports, with pricing varying by model and lens type. For buyers, the key decisions are frame style, battery life expectations, and whether built-in AI features like live translation or visual search are supported for Malaysian language settings. Check official Meta or authorised retailer listings for exact Malaysian pricing and warranty terms before buying, since grey-market imports may lack local support.
Microsoft starts rolling out Copilot Code so you can build apps just by describing them
Microsoft has begun rolling out Copilot Code, a tool that lets users describe an app in plain language and have it generated and assembled automatically, without writing code line by line. It builds on Microsoft's existing Copilot family but is aimed squarely at turning natural-language prompts into working software, from internal business tools to simple apps. The rollout is gradual, so availability may vary by region and subscription tier. For non-developers, this lowers the bar to automating small workflows or prototyping ideas without hiring a developer; for professional coders, it's another layer of AI-assisted scaffolding on top of existing Copilot features. Try it by checking your Microsoft 365 or Copilot subscription for the new build option, and start with a small, well-defined task to see how it handles your instructions.
MSI's new AI+ laptop with Nvidia's RTX Spark chip is now up for pre-order in Malaysia
MSI has opened Malaysian pre-orders for the Prestige N16 Flip AI+, a 2-in-1 convertible laptop built around Nvidia's new RTX Spark N1X chip, starting at RM19,699. The machine is aimed at developers, creators and power users who want to run local AI workloads, such as image generation or coding assistants, directly on the device rather than relying on the cloud. MSI is positioning the RTX Spark chip as a selling point for on-device AI performance that rivals much bulkier desktop setups. Pricing puts it firmly in the premium segment, well above typical consumer laptops sold locally. For anyone shopping for a high-end machine specifically for local AI development work, this is one of the first RTX Spark laptops to land in Malaysia.
Malaysia is building an AI app to help you check if that call or message is a scam
The National Scam Response Centre (NSRC) is developing an AI-powered app, announced under Budget 2027, that will let the public quickly check whether a call, message or link is likely a scam. The tool is intended to give everyday Malaysians an easy first line of defence against the rising wave of phishing calls and fake investment schemes. Details on launch timing, how the app will be distributed and what data it uses are still to be confirmed by NSRC. It builds on existing efforts to combine AI with fraud detection across banking and telecom sectors. Once live, this could become a handy pocket tool for anyone unsure about a suspicious message.
YTL's free AI coding tool ILMUcode launches with RM300 credits for students
YTL AI Labs has launched ILMUcode, an agentic AI coding platform built specifically for Malaysian developers, students and first-time builders. Unveiled at Universiti Malaya, the tool lets users describe what they want to build in plain language and have an AI agent write, test and refine the code, aiming to lower the barrier to software development for people without formal programming backgrounds. To encourage adoption, YTL is giving Universiti Malaya students RM300 in free credits to try the platform. It's part of a broader push by Malaysian tech players to build homegrown AI infrastructure rather than rely solely on US and Chinese tools. If you're a student, developer or just curious about agentic coding, this is a locally built option worth testing this week while the credits last.
ChatGPT starts showing ads in Malaysia, here's what changes for you
OpenAI has switched on advertising inside ChatGPT for Malaysian users, meaning free and lower-tier users will start seeing sponsored content and product suggestions mixed into their chats. This is part of OpenAI's push to monetise its massive free user base without forcing everyone onto paid plans. For everyday users, it is worth noting what responses might now be shaped by advertiser interests, and checking your settings to understand what data is used to target these ads. It is a reminder that most free AI tools eventually need a business model, and ads are becoming one of them.
